A few days down

A key element to making gains in the gym is rest.  That’s right. Rest.

One element many forget is to take a few days off in between new work out plans. A few days down will do your body good.

You worked hard for weeks. Go ahead and relax for a few days.

You’ve been working very hard for a few weeks. You’re body has been put through quite a lot.  Taking a few days or a week off in between workout routines allows your body to fully heal and adapt. It lets your mind and your muscles rest.

And during this short down time, you can become prepared for your next challenge. Use this time to research new routines, new exercises or modifications.  Maybe use it to try out a new class or gym?

You can also check in with your physician or trainer. Has your body composition changed? How’s your blood work, blood pressure and heart rate? Maybe you pulled or over did a muscle. This is a nice time for a massage and some pampering to let your body readjust.

A few days off in between workout routines will help your mind – and your body – be ready for the next challenge.
