Fall Exercise Can Be Fun and Rewarding!

Fall is upon us, and there is no time like the present to get out and exercise. Why? Primarily because the fall season brings numerous festivities that may encourage the body to back on additional pounds. You must exercise to counteract the desire to remain sedentary and eat more. There are numerous indoor and outdoor activities that you can participate in to prevent unnecessary weight gain during the fall months. Here are a few examples of indoor and outdoor activities that will help you remain active through the fall.

Dust Off Your Stability Ball and Go Outside

Straight Lat Combo – Use a pair of light weights and a stability ball with this exercise. Your head and shoulders should rest on the ball. Then, extend the arms over your head with the weights in your hand. The arms should be parallel to the floor. When the arms reach overhead, you should pause briefly before finishing the exercise.

Back Extension – This exercise strengthens the back and helps to prevent injuries related to a weak back. To begin this exercise, place your hands and hips on the ball. Your face should be facing the floor when you begin the exercise. During the exercise, raise your hands over head. Your spine should remain extended at this stage of the exercise. Practice balance and control with this exercise. Ten to 12 repetitions are recommended.

Leg Lift Balance – To begin this exercise, begin with your hips on the ball. The feet should be placed on the floor on one side of the ball. Your hands and forearms should be on the floor on the other side of the ball. This will balance the body. Lift one leg to the sky approximately 20 degrees. Repeat the movement for 12 to 15 repetitions. The exercise focuses on shoulders, hamstrings and glutes.

Try Home Gym Equipment
Invest in home gym equipment, such as ellipticals and treadmills, to improve your overall health. This equipment is important when you are not motivated to leave your home to exercise. With home gym equipment, you have no excuse. There is always equipment available for exercise. Besides, it is also an excellent way to vary the exercise routine.

Sometimes, you will get bored and want variety in your exercise routine. When you are bored of the stability ball, try out the elliptical machines and treadmills. You will work different muscles and also enjoy the new variation in your list.

Exercise Even in the Fall
The great thing about fall is the temperature is milder, and it is easier to exercise. The temperatures are not sweltering, and it takes more exertion to break a sweat. This is desirable for people who have an aversion to exercise and hate to sweat. While it is good to sweat during exercise to release toxins and cool the body, you will sweat less because the air is cooler. Exercising in the fall is pleasurable for this reason.
